Welcome
Dear industry colleagues,
On behalf of the Conference Committee, I am thrilled to extend a heartfelt invitation to the 36th Annual Queensland Mining Industry Health and Safety Conference (QMIHSC) at The Star, Gold Coast, from Sunday, 17th to Wednesday, 20th August 2025.
As we gather once again, this year’s theme, “Rock Solid” The foundations of safety excellence, challenges us to revisit the fundamental principles of safety that form the foundation of our industry. While advancements in technology and evolving practices have transformed the way we work, the bedrock of safety remains unchanged—clear communication, proactive hazard identification, and unwavering adherence to safety protocols.
Just as mining relies on solid geological foundations, our collective commitment to safety must be unshakable. Together, we will explore how reinforcing these basics not only prevents accidents but also strengthens our ability to adapt and thrive in a complex, ever-evolving industry.
What to expect at QMIHSC 2025
This year’s conference builds on the momentum of the incredible discussions and innovations shared in 2024. Our carefully curated program offers:
- Dynamic keynote presentations: Industry leaders and experts will address critical topics, including the role of simplicity in safety, lessons learned from past incidents, and strategies for building a culture of safety awareness.
- Interactive workshops and sessions: Dive into practical, hands-on opportunities designed to equip you with actionable tools for immediate application.
- Networking opportunities: Connect with colleagues, peers, and thought leaders to share insights, challenges, and solutions.
- Engaging Q&A and exhibition marquee: Extended opportunities for one-on-one interactions with keynote speakers and exhibitors to discuss emerging trends, technologies, and solutions.
- Award celebrations and fundraising initiatives: Support CapRescue, this year’s recipient of the appeal auction proceeds, and honour those leading the way in health, safety, and innovation within our industry.
As we recommit to the basics, we lay the foundation for a safer, brighter future for Queensland’s Mining Industry. Let us unite in our shared purpose: to make safety not just a priority, but a way of life.
